So what is it?

Search Optimisation (more commonly known as Search Engine Optimisation or SEO, simply put is is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (”organic” or “algorithmic”) search results.

Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results, or the higher it “ranks,” the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.

It is cross between an art and science as know one can say exactly do do come up higher in search engines like Google.

Two Factors Involved

1. On page - the design and layout of your web pages

2. Off page - What sites link to your site, and what they say in those links say.

Many SEO companies focus on the easily control factors as design. In our research this part only accounts for 20% of the reason that a site ranks high.

In some cases, especially competitive areas, the amount of links and the quality of the links to a site, can override any on page factors.
