Many website owners don’t understand the “process”.
What do I mean by the process?
It’s what can or should happen at a website and it’s broken down to a few steps:
1. What do you want your visitors to do? I call it the MWA – Most Wanted Action. Now you can have more than one but you have to identify them.
The simplest answer can just be: “I want them to call me on the phone” -(in the case of a plumber for example)
It could be lead generation- building an email list to market towards for future events or products.
Or it simply to be them to buy from you
The important part about selling directly is the barriers involved – and you are looking at them
– The PC, the internet and building of trust first before people will give out credit card details.
Very few people will buy on the first time visit to a website, unless they are buying form large company they know about already. This is where the building of an email list can be stage one of selling to someone online:

2. Traffic: This is getting visitors to the site- either by Free methods in Google or paid Advertising using Pay Per Click – (Google Adwords). Both have their advantages.
Adwords is very fast, but can be very expensive, depend on which market you are in. Natural Search engine ranking is free, apart from the work to get it there, and can carry on for years, but takes time -up to 6 months or longer, depending on the market.
3. Conversion: This is number of visitors that take an action at your site. It comes down to testing, measuring and trying new ideas. You site ned to apply the elements of Direct marketing site as this works well online, guiding the visitor to the action they need to take. To many paths and the visitor wont take any action.
